Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is due to a circulatory obstruction in the muscles, tendons, and sinew of the hand, wrist and forearm. When blood cannot properly circulate in the forearm and wrist, a coagulation effect takes place. This is often caused by repetitive motion (cumulative trauma) from the excess use of computers, cashier keyboards, scissors, and sewing. The pain is typically deep, burning, and sometimes throbbing with neurological manifestations such as numbness and tingling of the hand and fingers and weakness of the extremities.
Acupuncture is very effective in reducing the inflammation and swelling from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Acupuncture is applied to increase the micro-circulation of blood to the affected region to increase the rate of healing, eliminate nerve impingement, and stop pain. Most cases resolve completely without residual pain or complication.
